List five types of functions and give a brief description of each. a.The first step for an off-premises event is for the event professional is to create a RFP, this includes basic information such as the objective of the event, information on the company, workable dates, number of attendees, budget, and special requests. This is sent to event managers and caterers in the area. b.Five Types of Functions i.Brunch: A late morning meal that has breakfast and lunch foods. A brunch can be plated of buffet style. ii.Receptions: Networking events with limited seating, this is a social event. Food is usually in stations and beverages are always served. There are heavy and light receptions, the difference being the amount and types of foods served. iii.Continental Breakfast: An assortment of bread, pastries, juice, and coffee, a continental breakfast may be upgraded with fruit, yogurt, or cheese. It Is usually self-service. iv.Theme Party: A gala event with flair. This function can be a reception, buffet, or served meal. It does always have a theme. v.Off-site Event: An event held away from the host hotel. It could be a reception held at a landmark, or other location. 2)Describe how Family Style/English Service and Plated/American Style service differ? a.In Family Style/English Service large platters and bowls are placed onto the table by the servers and the guests pass the dishes around the table and serve themselves. A host will often carve the meat. In Plated/American Style guests are seated and served food that has already been portioned out for them in the kitchen.
