Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni speaks to officials during the second half of Super Bowl LVII.

After losing Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told his players to turn the pain of defeat into a strength.

“I just reminded them that all the things that we’ve went through in our lives was something that was adversity; that we will overcome this, too. Because the type of guys that we have in there — we will use this to motivate us. We will use this pain — will use this failure — to motivate us so we can make it a strength.”

As for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ impressive performance in the loss, Sirianni said: “Jalen played the best game I’ve seen him play in the two years we’ve been together. He was outstanding.

“I really thought he was in complete control. He did things with his legs in the run game, he did things with his arm in the pass game, made some unbelievable throws, unbelievable reads. I thought he played outstanding.

“You look at the game and that was good for the NFL, in the sense that the two best quarterbacks in the NFL played against each other on the biggest stage, and the biggest lights, and Jalen played great.”

When the attention turned to Mahomes, Kelce grabbed the mic to praise his MVP quarterback: “M-V-Pat! You can’t say enough about what this guy means to Kansas City and this team.”

Mahomes was typically humble, sharing the credit with his coach and teammates.

In the new spot, the lyrics are changed to plug the wireless service provider.

The ad comes roughly six months afterNewton-John’s deathat the age of 73 in August 2022.

Upon learning of her passing at the time, Travoltawrote a messageto his late co-staron Instagram, saying, “you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible.”

Who's behind the "He Gets Us" ads for Jesus that are airing during the Super Bowl?

From CNN's AJ Willingham

He Gets Us,” a campaign to promote Jesus and Christianity, isrunning two ads during today’s gameas part of a staggering $100 million media investment.

The group’s content has been peppering TV screens, billboards and social media feeds since anational launch in 2022.

The campaign is arresting, portraying the pivotal figure of Christianity as an immigrant, a refugee, a radical, an activist for women’s rights and a bulwark against racial injustice and political corruption.

Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (26)

The first of the "He Gets Us" campaign billboards appeared along the Strip in Las Vegas on March 14, 2022.

But certain details about the “He Gets Us” ads have set off alarm bells among young people and those skeptical of religion, two groups the campaignis specifically aimed to attract.

Some of the campaign’s major donors and its holding company have ties to conservative political aims and far-right ideologies that appear at odds with the campaign’s inclusive messaging.

Here are some of the takeaways, which you can read about in full here:

  • The campaign has connections to anti-LGBTQ and anti-abortion laws: The campaign is a subsidiary ofThe Servant Foundation, also known as the Signatry. According to researchcompiled by Jacobin, a left-leaning news outlet, The Servant Foundation has donated tens of millions to theAlliance Defending Freedom, a conservative Christian legal group. The ADF has been involved in several legislative pushes to curtail LGBTQ rights and quash non-discrimination legislation in the Supreme Court. And donors include Hobby Lobby co-founder David Green, whose company has famously been involved in legal battles on LGBTQ rights and contraception coverage.
  • The campaign is tied to evangelical churches: The group says it has no political affiliation or tie to a specific church denomination. But it has theological ties to evangelical practices, as well as financial ones. That includes its stated affirmation of the Lausanne Covenant, a unifying document in evangelical churches, and affiliations with prominent evangelical leader Billy Graham. In general, Christian evangelism is closely tied to conservatism and is an extremely influential force in American politics.
  • Some religious critics say the campaign is inauthentic: Word of the campaign has sparked enthusiasm among some Christian groups and influencers online. But other Christians, including those in the growingdeconstruction movementwho are reevaluating their relationship with religion, see red flags in some of the campaign’s messaging, including an allusion to “cancel culture.” Christians have also criticized the ads from a different perspective, saying it is too vague or de-emphasizes Biblical teachings.

Jon Hamm "hams" it up in Super Bowl commercial

From CNN's Marianne Garvey
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (49)

Jon Hamm puts his last name to good use in a new campaign.

When Hamm got a call from his commercial agent about a Hellmann’s Super Bowl ad, the actor agreed to appearin the spot, he said, because the company’s message was to encourage “viewers to get creative in the kitchen” and limit food waste.

It meant a day’s work alongside Brie Larson and Pete Davidson.

Hamm in the ad plays the ham in a ham and brie sandwich, while Larson plays the brie, of course. Davidson plays a hungry guy opening his fridge.

“I’ve been saddled with the last name Hamm since I came into existence,” Hamm told CNN in a recent interview. “It’s always been an easy go-to for making fun of myself. But having Pete actually ingest me was a completely different kettle of fish, I’m mixing metaphors left and right here, but it was super fun.”

Hamm said he was drawn to the campaign’s aim to reduce food waste based on what he observed working in the restaurant industry for many years while pursuing an acting career.

“Seeing how much food actually gets wasted in a day is kind of heartbreaking,” Hamm said. “We have a very weird relationship with food storage and food purchasing and the result is the tremendous amount of food waste, especially on Super Bowl Sunday.”

Hamm, who also does voiceover work for other brands, said he looks for projects he can “either have fun with or that is meaningful in some way to me.”

“Having played a fictional advertising executive for many years, I have a certain amount of respect for the game,” he added.

The “Mad Men” star said he enjoyed collaborating with Davidson and Larson.

“I know Pete quite well, and he’s a lovely guy,” he said, adding that he’s been a fan of Larson and her work “for a long time.”

Hamm said he’ll be watching Sunday’s game from Canada, and he has a vested interest, because Kansas City is his team.

Analysis: This year’s Super Bowl halftime show is sure to score, thanks to Rihanna

Analysis from CNN'sLisa Respers France
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (50)

Rihanna is set to give her first live public performance in some five years at halftime of Super Bowl LVII.

Here’s what CNN’s Lisa Respers France had to say about the highly anticipated show:

Two football teamsare playing on Sunday or whatever.

Sorry, but I am not a major football fan, so you will have to look someplace else for those details (Editor’s note: Like here, in this live story, dear reader).

But when it comes to Rihanna, I’ve got you.

She’s the featured performer for the halftime show this year and given that westilldon’t have a new album from her seven years after she released “Anti,” I plan on treating this like a concert.

When Rihannaposted a Super Bowl teaser last month, she gave us what has come to be her brand: fashion, hit songs and cheekiness — as she struts towards the camera, a montage of audio snippets play bemoaning thelack of new musicfrom her. The ad then features a clip from her 2016 song, “Needed Me” in which she sings, “You needed me.” I’m not disputing that!

I’m ready for all of the classics — and any of the surprises she wants to bring. There is the opportunity for her to give us one of the greatest halftime shows ever.

One thing to talk about:

Speaking of the greatest, let me stir up some mess by ranking the four best halftime shows of years past.

This is my totally subjective opinion and in no particular order:

  • Bruno Marsbrought it in 2014 at Super Bowl XLVIII. That should be a shock to no one, of course, given that he’s been performing since he was a child, andas an Elvis impersonatorno less. He just keeps getting better. His halftime show was high-energy and even brought out the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. (This is not to be confused with Super Bowl 50 in 2016, whenhe and Beyoncé appeared as featured performersalongside Coldplay.)
  • Beyoncéreigned supreme at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, and gave us all what we craved by bringing the other members of Destiny’s Child too. Let’s not forget their entrances as they literally popped up on stage. Here’s where I both beg for a Destiny’s Child reunion and lament that I have not yetsecured my “Renaissance” tour tickets. But I digress. Queen Bey only delivers the best of the best and her halftime show was no different.
  • Michael Jacksonperformed during Super Bowl XXVII in 1993, and the reaction was exactly what one would expect given he was the biggest superstar in the world at the time. His appearance came two years after New Kids on the Block performed during halftime, marking a departure from what had most often been marching bands offering the entertainment in previous years.Jackson’s performance was meant toincrease interest in the halftime show conceptand it definitely set the bar.
  • Prince and of course, it rained on the man who blessed us with “Purple Rain.” Hetook on the halftime show at Super Bowl XLI in 2007, he brought the house down with his musicality and hits. I’ve said it so many times before, butthere will never be another Princeand I will forever miss him. I’m sure this doesn’t shock you given that this newsletter is named Pop Life.

Damar Hamlin waves to the crowd as he is honored before Super Bowl LVII.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was honored on the field at Super Bowl LVII prior to the opening kickoff.

Hamlin was joined by a group of the medical personnel from Cincinnati, Ohio, who treated him after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during the Bills’ game against the host Cincinnati Bengals last month.

Hamlin could be seen grinning and holding up his hands in the shape of a heart, a symbol that was widely used by the player online and people showing support for him on social media during his recovery. The medical workers waved and crowded around Hamlin as the crowd roared.

More background: Hamlin initially was hospitalized in Cincinnati when his heart suddenly stopped after a tackle during a game against the Bengals on January 2.

Hamlin collapsed seconds after the open-field collision with a Bengals wide receiver, and medical personnel rushed onto the field and administered CPR quickly – which helped save his life. He then received treatment at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Buffalo Bills safety has received an optimistic prognosis on his playing future from the NFL players union doctor.

“I guarantee you that Damar Hamlin will play professional football again,” Dr. Thom Mayer, medical director of the NFL Players Association, said on SiriusXM Doctor Radio’s “Heart to Heart” program.

Super Bowl ad slams Tesla’s "Full Self-Driving" tech

From CNN's Ramishah Maruf

Electric carmaker Tesla faces a hit on Super Bowl Sunday, when an ad will show the alleged dangers of its “Full Self-Driving” technology.

The commercial, which is being aired in Washington, DC, Austin, Tallahassee, Albany, Atlanta and Sacramento does not paint Tesla in the best light.

The ad is part of a multimillion dollar advertising campaign by The Dawn Project. Its founder, Dan O’Dowd, is a California tech CEO who hasdedicated millions of his own money(and a failed US Senate race) to the cause.

The ad cost $598,000, a Dawn Project spokesperson told CNN.

It shows a Tesla Model 3, which allegedly has the Full Self-Driving mode turned on, running over a child-sized dummy on a school crosswalk, and then a fake baby in a stroller, in a series of tests by the Dawn Project. In the spot, the car swerves into oncoming traffic, zooms past stopped school buses and cruises through “do not enter” signs.

“Tesla’s Full Self-Driving is endangering the public,” the ad said. “With deceptive marketing and woefully inept engineering.”

The Dawn Project says it wants to make computer-controlled systems safer for humanity, shooting its own videos as tests of Tesla’s alleged design flaws.

More background: In August, O’Dowd published a video showing a Tesla plowing into child-sized mannequins. Some Tesla fans posted their own videos in defense, using their own dummies or even their own children — YouTube has taken down several test videos involving actual children, citing safety risks.

O’Dowd received a cease and desist letter from Tesla over the video, claiming he and the Dawn Project were “disparaging Tesla’s commercial interests and disseminating defamatory information to the public.”

O’Dowd responded to the cease-and-desist with a 1,736-word post in which he pushed back, defended his tests and returned barbs from Musk and some Tesla supporters.

Though officially in beta mode, Full Self-Driving isavailableto any user in North America who wants to purchase the $15,000 feature.

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system is intended to someday work on city streets, but despite its wide rollout, is still officially in a developmental “beta” program. No car for sale on the market is yet able to drive itself.

Tesla did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.

How often does the NFL MVP win the Super Bowl?

From CNN's Alex Leeds Matthews
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (60)

If the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl on Sunday, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be the 11th Associated Press MVP to win a Super Bowl in the same season.

The last player to achieve both was Kurt Warner in 1999.

Quarterbacks are by far the most common MVPs, in both the AP’s season-long contest and in Super Bowl MVP voting.

This year, Mahomes and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will make history by being the first two Black starting quarterbacks to face off in a Super Bowl game.

The last surviving Blockbuster has an Instagram ad timed for the Super Bowl

From CNN's Parija Kavilanz
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (62)

A man returns rented DVDs to the last remaining Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon, in June 2022.

When you’re the lone surviving store in any industry, you’ve earned the right to have fun and hype it up. That’s exactly what the only remaining store in the Blockbuster video rental chain is doing, and it’s during the Super Bowl. It helps if you still have a VCR, of course.

The store in Bend, Oregon, has been teasing an upcoming ad on Instagram@blockbusterbendwith a post that says, “Is the world coming to an end or is Blockbuster releasing its first commercial in a really, really long time” Yes. See you on 2/12/23.”

Oh, and, in a hint that the world may be coming to an end, co*ckroaches feature prominently in these posts.

Another post instructs how to watch the commercial: “On 2.12.23 visit The Last Blockbuster in Bend, or watch live on our Instagram at halftime.”

If you miss it because, of course,Rihanna, the store is also renting VHS copies of it for $2.

So what if the ad isn’t in the big leagues, like Budweiser or Coca-Cola with a national spot? For this one store, it’s an attempt at generating buzz, no matter how big or hyperlocal.

And it seems to be working.

The store has been getting lots of calls since the teasers surfaced this week. “Everyone who calls is super excited, and they want to know more,” said Sandi Harding, the store’s general manager, in an interview with CNN Business.

“I wanted to do two things with the ad. One was to show that small businesses can also do creative and fun things for Super Bowl, and it’s not just an opportunity for the big companies and their big ads,” she said. “We also want people to remember us, that we are here and our store is exactly the way a Blockbuster store was in the 1990s.”

At one time, Blockbuster operated more than 9,000 stores nationwiderenting movies and video games. But the advent of on-demand service like Netflix pushed it out of business.

Blockbuster stores fell one by one, with only 10 left in 2017, and then just one.

The location in Bend, Oregon, is the only evidence left to prove to GenZers that Blockbuster actually did exist, and it’s how Americans watched movies at home pre-Netflix.

Last Super Bowl was crypto’s coming out party. This year, the party’s over

From CNN's Allison Morrow

Super Bowl LVIwas the crypto world’scoming out party.Buzzy firms made bold pitcheslast year, and shelled out millions of dollars on ads encouraging viewers not to be afraid of this new-fangled digital investment.

You can expect a lot less noise from Team Crypto during today’s Super Bowl LVII telecast.

In the year since those celebrity-packed ads debuted, the entire crypto industry has been rattled by acollapse in digital asset values. Bankruptciesbegan to pile up over the summer.

Then the real pain started.

Of the four crypto or crypto-affiliated companies that advertised in the Super Bowl last year, one (FTX) has collapsed completely. The others (Coinbase, Crypto.com and eToro) have fought against industryheadwinds.Shares of Coinbase, the only publicly traded company in the group, have fallen more than 60% since its“floating QR code” adbecame one of the most talked-about spots.

Don’t expect any of those companies to be back this year. FTX is bankrupt and under criminal investigation by federal prosecutors. The multi-asset trading platform eToro confirmed to CNN it would not be splurging on an ad this year.

Coinbase declined to comment. Representatives for Crypto.com — the company behind the ad featuring LeBron James telling his younger self to “call your own shots” — didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Despite what is being called a “crypto winter,” sports advertising remains a crucial avenue for digital curencies, marketing experts say, as their target demographics share significant overlap — sports fans and crypto traders tend to be mostly male and young.

But turmoil in the crypto space means marketers are changing their tactics.

“Crypto firms are focusing less on crypto advertising and more on investing in better user experiences, products, and customer service,” said Silvia Lacayo, head of marketing at crypto exchange Bitstamp US.

Jason Kelce, Donna Kelce and Travis Kelce.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will make history Sunday as the first brothers to play against each other in theSuperBowl.

Their mother, Donna Kelce, told CNN “it’s going to be easy” for her when it comes to rooting interests.

“I have to stand and scream the entire game,” she told CNN’s Poppy Harlow in an interview Wednesday. The interview aired Feb. 9 on the show CNN This Morning.

“They’re both on offense,” Kelce continued, “so every time somebody has the ball, I’ll be clapping. Every time somebody gets a touchdown, I’ll be thrilled.”

Asked what she’ll say to the son who ends up on the losing side, Kelce told CNN she’ll go to the losing team’s hotel and “I’ll give my son a huge hug and a kiss.”

“Because there’s nothing that I could say that will mean anything at that point,” Kelce said. “He’s going to be a broken person. He’ll be happy for his brother, but the hours and the months that you put in to get to this point, it’s tough.”

Rihanna says motherhood made her feel like she can "take on the world" ahead of Super Bowl halftime show

From CNN's David Close

Rihanna speaks during a press conference on February 9, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Superstar singer Rihanna, who will perform in the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, said she has been so focused on her impending performance that she forgot about her upcoming birthday later this month.

She called the task “incredible” but “almost impossible.”

“I’ve been so focused on the Super Bowl, I totally forgot my birthday is coming up. I totally forgot about Valentine’s Day. I am just like, ‘Super Bowl, Super Bowl, Super Bowl.’ So, it’s a lot of preparation, a lot of moving parts and this week, this is the week that it really is being tested,” Rihanna said Thursday.

The singer said everyone involved in the production is in the final tune-up stage. It’s a massive undertaking, with as many as three to 400 people setting up and breaking down the stage, all in about eight minutes, Rihanna said.

“It’s incredible. It’s almost impossible,” she said of the feat.

“When you become a mom there is something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world,” said the icon and entrepreneur, who recently had a baby. “You can do anything.”

“The Super Bowl is one of the big stages in the world, so as scary as that was, because I haven’t been on stage in 7 years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all,” said Rihanna, who last toured in 2016. “It’s important for me to do this this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”

Report: Super Bowl parties aren’t breaking your budget this year — but watch out for beer prices

From CNN's Parija Kavilanz
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (66)

While overall food price inflation is up 11.8% over last year, prices on some popular snack items are down just in time for game day, according to the 2023 Wells Fargo Super Bowl Food Report.

But with beverages, brace for sticker shock on at least one must-have for many people: beer. Beer prices this year have jumped 11% from 2022, while wine and spirits are up 4% and 2% respectively, according to the report.

Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (67)

With that out of the way, here’s the good news

  • Wing-lovers rejoice: A pound of chicken wings is down 22% from January 2022 because of reinforced supply. This time last year, the retail price for whole chicken wings was $3.38 per pound, according to the US Department of Agriculture. That price tumbled all the way down to $2.65 per pound by January 2023, according to the Wells Fargo report.
  • Grilling? Sirloin steak prices have dropped almost $1 per pound from 2022 Super Bowl prices. So has the price of shrimp, as lower demand helped push down prices by 17% since last year, landing at $3.78 a pound. Adding bacon to your burgers? Good news —those prices are down, too.
  • Go crazy with the guac: Avocados are at a bargain. The average retail price for an avocado is down 20% since last year, after a significantsupply glut of the buttery fruittriggered a drop in wholesale prices. That’s awelcome reversal from 2022, when avocado prices surged in the first half of the year after a brief stoppage of imports from Mexico roiled the supply chain and inflated prices.

The matchup comes 35 years after Doug Williams became the first Black quarterback to start and win in the big game.

For 27-year-old Chiefs quarterback Mahomes — who is looking for his second Super Bowl ring when the two teams face off in Arizona Sunday — the moment of history is “special.”

“I’ve learned more and more about the history of the Black quarterback since I’ve been in this league,” he told reporters.

“The guys that came before me and Jalen set the stage for this, and now I’m just glad we can set the stage for kids that are coming up now,” Mahomes said.

Eagles quarterback Hurts — in just his second full season as a starter — is just the eighth Black quarterback to start in the Super Bowl. The short list includes a fellow Philadelphia player: Donovan McNabb, who startedSuper BowlXXXIX.

Prop bets: If it happens on Super Bowl Sunday, you can probably wager on it

From CNN's Andy Scholes

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is dunked with Gatorade by his players Jordan Lucas (24) and Cameron Erving (75) in the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in 2020.

Nearly every year, more people watch theSuper Bowlthan any other televised event — and many like to watch with some (pig)skin in the game.

Adults in the US are expected to bet a total of roughly $16 billion on the Super Bowl this year, according to a survey from the American Gaming Association.

Of course, you can wager on the actual scoring and outcome. But when it comes to the Super Bowl, you can also bet on almost anything that has to do with the game, including some truly silly stuff. These are called “proposition bets” or “prop” bets for short.

Here are some of the zaniest prop bets available for Super Bowl LVII:

  • Length of the national anthem
  • Outcome of the coin toss
  • Color of the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach
  • Will Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid say “burger” during his postgame interview? (This is a callback to his remarks after the Chiefs’ 2020 win.)
  • Whose ad will run first: Doritos or M&Ms?
  • Color of Rihanna’s first outfit during the halftime show
  • Will Tom Cruise parachute into the stadium and hand-deliver the game ball to the referees? (Yes, seriously.)

It's time for football's shiniest showcase. But the NFL has had a rocky season

From CNN's Leah Asmelash
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (71)

Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins is carted off on a stretcher after an injury in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 29, 2022.

No one questions the NFL’s status as the US’ most powerful professional sports league, and the Super Bowl is its grand finale —its biggest celebration.

But the league also faces its share of criticism, and a series of events from the last five months has magnified those concerns.

Here’s a look back at some of the most controversial storylines of the season – the ones that might not make an NFL highlight reel:

  • Deshaun Watson returned after more than two dozen sexual assault accusations: Over 20 women came forward last year alleging sexual misconduct against Deshaun Watson from his time as the quarterback of the Houston Texans. Watson has apologized for “any pain this situation has caused” but has repeatedly denied the allegations. He served an 11-game suspension, paid a $5 million fine and then returned to play under a new five-year, $230 million deal with the Cleveland Browns — the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history.
  • Tua Tagovailoa’s injuries brought new scrutiny to the NFL concussion protocols: Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa faced multiple health scares, including trips in and out of the league’s concussion protocols and questions about whether he should have been allowed to return to play when he did.
  • Lovie Smith’s firing highlighted claims of discrimination against Black coaches: When Lovie Smith was hired as the new head coach of the Houston Texans in February 2022, he became one of two Black head coaches in the NFL. He only lasted a year. For critics concerned with the league’s history on race, Smith’s firing was just another example of Black coaches not being given a fair shot.
  • Damar Hamlin’s sudden collapse renewed questions about player safety: When Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlincollapsed mid-gamelast month against the Cincinnati Bengals, the nation held its collective breath. At the time, many feared Hamlin had died. The Bills later said his heartbeat was restored on the field by team medical staff before he was taken to a hospital. The episoderenewedassertions that the league – whose players are bigger, stronger and faster than ever – has simply become too dangerous.

The federal government has hundreds of personnel helping monitor for Super Bowl security threats

From CNN's Holmes Lybrand
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (72)

Security patrols outside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona ahead of the Super Bowl.

The Department of Homeland Security has more than 600 personnel making threat and security assessments, looking out for counterfeit merchandise and providing other security support as thousands of fans descend on Glendale, Arizona, for the Super Bowl.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas traveled to Arizona earlier this week to meet with law enforcement in the community, just outside of Phoenix.

DHS personnel are providing “extensive air security resources; venue, cyber, and infrastructure security assessments; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives detection technologies; intelligence analysis and threat assessments; intellectual property enforcement; and real-time situational awareness reporting for our partners,” according to a press release from Mayorkas’ agency Tuesday.

Why “intellectual property enforcement”? Super Bowls can be a boon for bogus merchandise sellers. Crackdowns on the counterfeits market have turned up huge seizures for feds in the past.

Hurts vs Mahomes: Meet the quarterbacks

From CNN's Ben Church and Ben Morse

There are stars all over the field in this year’s Super Bowl, but it’s hard to ignore the historic faceoff between the starting quarterbacks on the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s dynamic newcomer Jalen Hurts against NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, now an established veteran.

Jalen Hurts: From viral powerlifting sensation to Super Bowl quarterback

Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (73)

The immense pressure heaped on athletes in Philadelphia has proven too much for many sporting stars. Sometimes, the city of brotherly love isn’t so friendly.

But for Jalen Hurts, the pressure that comes with being the starting quarterback for the city’s NFL team has been like water off a duck’s back.

Decked out in the green of the Eagles, the 24-year-old has oozed calm and composure as he’s ascended to the top of his field in just his second full season as a starter, becoming the driving force behind the team’s run to the Super Bowl.

And from his all-women support team to his love of singer Anita Baker and the viral videos of his powerlifting achievements, Hurts is more than just an NFL quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes: The promising baseball pitcher who became the face of the NFL

Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (74)

He may be on the cusp of a second Super Bowl title and widely regarded as one of the most talented quarterbacks inNFLhistory, but a career in football wasn’t always in the cards forPatrick Mahomes.

Instead, it was baseball, the sport his father played professionally for 11 years, that was his first love. Unsurprisingly, he was pretty good at it.

Old videofootageshows a young Mahomes running around stadiums with a baseball glued to his hand, dressed head-to-toe in whichever team’s gear his dad was playing for at the time – from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Mets.

That rare access to the world of elite sport was the foundation for Mahomes to develop into a phenomenal athlete and the ‘Showtime’ superstar he is today.

Rihanna says she is "trying to cram 17 years of work into 13 minutes" for halftime show

From CNN's David Close
Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII | CNN (75)

Rihanna speaks during a press conference on February 9, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rihanna told the media Thursday that one of the biggest challenges of headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show is narrowing her expansive catalog into such a brief period of time.

“The set list was the biggest challenge. That was the hardest, hardest part. Deciding how to maximize 13 minutes but also celebrate. That’s what the show is going to be, it’s going to be a celebration of my catalog in the best way that we could have put it together,” she said.

“You only have 13 minutes. That’s the challenge. You are trying to cram 17 years of work into 13 minutes. So it’s, it’s difficult. Some songs we had to lose because of that, and that’s going to be OK. But I think we did a pretty good job of narrowing it down.”
