The row came to light, when restaurant chain Moti Mahal sued one of the renowned eateries of the country Daryaganj for taking credit for inventing the two dishes.

Moti Mahal claims that both dishes were invented by their predecessor, the Late Kundal Lal Gujral. They have accused Daryanganj of misleading people into believing that both the iconic dishes are their creations. Meanwhile, Daryanganj claims that their predecessor Late Kundan Lal Jaggi was the inventor of these two dishes.

As per Moti Mahal owners, the existence of the two global dishes happened when their predecessor came up with the idea to rehydrate cooked chicken with a special sauce to prevent them from drying out quickly.
