Erling Haaland has just joined the Premier League’s elite 100-goal club, becoming the 35th player to reach a century in the competition with his opener for Manchester City at Fulham.
Not only did Haaland hit the milestone, but he did so faster than any other player in Premier League history, reaching 100 goals in just 111 appearances. This beats Alan Shearer’s previous record, set in 1995, by 13 games. Haaland’s goal-scoring rate in the top flight stands at an impressive 0.90 goals per game, and he could potentially challenge Shearer’s all-time record of 260 Premier League goals, a mark set when the league started in 1992-93 after splitting from the old English Football League.
Haaland’s contract with City, announced in January, is a record nine-and-a-half-year deal that runs through the end of the 2033-34 season.
