If you’ve been to a Universal Park, you probably know all about The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. With Diagon Alley in Universal Studios and Hogsmeade in Islands Of Adventure, Harry Potter fans can have two totally different experiences.

However, the one thing that’s a must-have in both parks is the butterbeer! It’s only the most famous drink in the Harry Potter books and movies! Plus, there’s nothing like having a cup of this sweet drink while looking out over Hogwart’s Castle or wandering through the streets of Diagon Alley.

In fact, if you’re planning a visit, here’s everything you need to know about the official Butterbeer At Universal Studios Orlando, from the six different types available to where you can find each one!

What is Butterbeer?

This tasty drink is what the wizarding students at Hogwarts drink when visiting Hogsmeade. If you’re wondering what this popular drink tastes like, it’s described in the book as a little bit like less-sickly butterscotch. That may not sound too appetizing but trust me, there’s a reason why it’s their favorite drink!

What is Butterbeer made of?

In the books, Butterbeer is made of just three ingredients: butterscotch, sugar and water. However, we muggles make it a little differently.

There’s actually more than one way to make a homemade Butterbeer recipe. Most have a cream soda base and use anything from butterscotch syrup, caramel syrup, heavy cream, pure vanilla extract, rum extract, melted butter, butter extract and sometimes even brown sugar.

🍺How to make Butterbeer

Note: If you want to make this recipe even simpler, you can skip steps 1 and 2 and use store bought whipped cream instead of homemade.

Step 1: You’ll want to start by preparing the whipped cream. Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to whip 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Once soft peaks begin to form, add the powdered sugar.

You can serve this DIY butterbeer in mugs, tall glasses or even some fun Hogwarts inspired tumblers.

Does Butterbeer have alcohol?

Though the version in the book has a small alcohol content (it’s known to get the house elves a little tipsy), most of the real-life recipes don’t contain alcohol. That being said, you can make alcoholic butterbeer with butterscotch schnapps and/or vanilla vodka.

Where can you buy butterbeer?

If you want to buy butterbeer already made, you won’t find a lot of options. You can buy Flying Cauldron Butterbeer on Amazon but otherwise you’ll have to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter or take the Harry Potter Studios Tour in London. Don’t worry though, this simple recipe tastes just like the real thing!
