Protecting Our Children: Lagos State Launches Critical Immunization Campaign!
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), has launched an Outbreak Response (OBR) Campaign across the state. This initiative is a proactive step to boost immunization rates and prevent the spread of diseases that vaccines can prevent.
This campaign, which began in Agege Local Government Area, is a crucial part of the state's plan to maintain high immunity levels within the population, preventing diseases from returning. The main goal is to ensure that every child under five years old receives life-saving vaccines. It also includes improving disease surveillance and educating communities about the importance of vaccination.
Leading the charge, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, mni, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, personally oversaw the campaign's implementation at selected health facilities in Agege. He wanted to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Dr. Mustafa was joined by Hon. Abdulganiyu Obasa, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, and other key officials from the Board and the Local Government Area.
"The Lagos State Government is fully dedicated to safeguarding the health of its citizens through ongoing vaccination efforts and swift outbreak responses," stated Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, mni. "Our supervisory visits are designed to ensure strict compliance with operational standards, verify vaccine availability, and assess the quality of service delivery across all facilities."
He also praised the hard work of the healthcare workers on the front lines and urged parents and caregivers to fully participate in the campaign by getting their children vaccinated. "We can only achieve success when every eligible child is reached. Immunization is safe, free, and remains the most effective protection against preventable diseases," he added.
Hon. Obasa, Chairman of Agege Local Government, also spoke, reaffirming the council's commitment to supporting all health initiatives led by the state. He emphasized that community involvement is key to the campaign's success. "We are working hand-in-hand with the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board to ensure that every household in Agege benefits from this vital intervention," Mr. Obasa said.
The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board has confirmed that the OBR campaign will continue throughout all local government areas. The Permanent Secretary and supervisory teams will continuously monitor compliance to ensure that all goals are met.
But here's where it gets controversial... Some people may question the government's approach or the effectiveness of the campaign.
