Love cooking or always in a quandary on what to cook? Want to make new friends? Looking for a good reason to get together? Starting a recipe exchange or cooking group is a great way to do it! Recipe Swap Clubs can be for men and/or women! Everyone loves good food…

  • Start by inviting friends, family, and neighbors; suggest they bring along a friend as well. The group can be as small as 3-4 or as large as 10.
    Set a date and time.
  • Take turns hosting, to get the ball rolling, you may want to host the first few yourself. Proud of your kitchen? You can be the designated meeting place.
  • Pick a theme for the group or change up monthly.
    • The themes can be based on the type of meals, i.e. breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, desserts, holiday dishes, quick and easy, crock pot dishes, healthy meals, family meals, or they can be different ethnic foods.
    • Bring in an occasional expert or take turns being the “expert” on different topics and themes.
    • You can share diet and nutrition tips; learn how to read labels.
    • Share growing your own herbs and vegetable tips.
    • Kids cooking class/bring one of your children a particular session to share the experience
    • Pairing wines, beer or scotch tastings
    • Tea/coffee time
    • Share tips on organizing/cleaning
    • Dress up or down, add costumes or hats
    • Cake decorating, pastry making, etc.
  • Choose the menu for the first meeting
  • Assign the dishes.
  • Each participant should bring or email their recipe with enough food for everyone to sample.
  • Get together and enjoy each other’s company and dishes.
