Easy Sweet and Spicy Teriyaki Chicken recipe. The perfect one pot weeknight dinner idea, it’s so much better than take out.
This week has been a long one! Somehow I feel like I am both overwhelmed with things to do during the day, then look back at my day and wonder what exactly I did.
At least today I can say that I made this Sweet and Spicy Teriyaki Chicken.
What you need to make Sweet and Spicy Teriyaki Chicken
This is so easy to make, I might make this once a week on weeknights! All you need is:
- green onions
- oil
- boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- fresh ginger
- red pepper flakes
- rice
- soy sauce
- Teriyaki sauce
- broccoli
- sesame seeds
That’s it!
Tips and Tricks
This recipe uses Teriyaki sauce. However, you need to buy the thick Teriyaki sauce. If you get the thin sauce, it won’t have the proper texture and coating that makes this dish extra yummy.
This recipe also makes great leftovers. In fact, I think the leftovers may even be better than when it is fresh. Perfect to take to work or school, you are going to love the convenience of this recipe.
One of the main issues people face when making this is removing the lid in step 5 when cooking the rice. Resist the urge to check on the rice, even if you are convinced that it is done (it is not). If you uncover the rice, the steam will escape and the rice won’t cook properly. Trust me on this, my husband has made this mistake so many times when he tries to make this recipe without me.

This is a super easy, family-friendly dinner! I loved the idea of spicing things up a bit, but I left the red pepper flakes as a garnish because my son doesn’t like spicy yet 😉 We the adults loved the spicy kick! I loved this teriyaki chicken much better than takeout. I’ll make this recipe again!Reply
