How to make a valentine charcuterie board

This Valentine’s Charcuterie Board is quick, simple, and perfectly customizable!

BOARD. To make a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board, first decide on your board/platter.

FILL. Gather your ingredients for your theme. Having a variety of colors, textures, and options is great. Place your containers randomly on the board and fill them with ingredients.

Place the other ingredients around on the board considering color, textures, and type of food.

To make Dipped Strawberries

We have full tutorial on our Chocolate Dipper Strawberries recipe for more details, but in general, here are some tips for making them:

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Melt the almond bark per package instructions. Dip the strawberries and place them on the lined baking sheet. Let the almond bark harden on the strawberries. It will harden pretty quickly at room temperature or you can place it in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to speed up the process.
  • Melt the pink melting chips per package instructions. Place them in a small Ziploc bag and snip the corner and drizzle across the strawberries (or use a spoon to drizzle).

To make dipped pretzels

They’re so easy!

  • Dip the pretzels in the melted almond bark. Place on the parchment paper.
  • While the almond bark is still wet, sprinkle with baking sprinkles. Let them harden and then place them on your charcuterie board.

TO MAKE DIPPED STRAWBERRY WAFERS

Even the kids can make these…

  • Dip one end of the cookie in the melted almond bark. Remove excess. Place on the parchment paper.
  • While the almond bark is still wet sprinkle them with candy-baking sprinkles.

Valentine’s day charcuterie board ideas

Sweet treats for the Valentine’s Candy Charcuterie Board can include anything you wish! Simply head to the Valentine’s section at the market and start shopping. Red, pink, and white candies are perfect. Anything chocolate is pretty much a win. Heart shapes are another must-have.

Fresh fruit. Some favorite red fruit to add to your dessert board include cherries, strawberries, raspberries, red grapes, and red apples. To keep apple slices from browning, treat them with lemon juice or Ball’s Fresh Fruit powder.

Savory charcuterie board. Should you wish to serve a more savory charcuterie board, easily turn some of our favorites into Valentines-Themed by using a heart shape cookie cutter to cut the meat (like prosciutto) and cheese slices into hearts, and incorporate some red fruits.

A cheese board filled with brie, goat cheese, crackers, and jams is also a great option.

  • Burrata Board
  • Charcuterie Board

Other Recipes to add to the board:

  • Cheesecake Strawberries
  • Cheesecake Bites
  • Fruit Dip
  • Chocolate Covered Oreos

The Valentine’s day board Tips

Make ahead of time. Prepare the items for this Valentine Charcuterie Board the day before and keep them in separate containers. Assemble to board 1-2 hours before serving it.

What board to use. You can find a really beautiful board made from wood or use festive holiday trays and platters.

Arranging the board. Begin by placing any bowls you wish to use in opposite areas on the board. I had some heart-shaped bowls that I could use to contain small candies and fruits that can leak juices, but any shape works.

Balance. When placing the other items on the board arrange them so that you have a balance of colors, tastes, and textures in different parts of the board.

Set some aside. Only place a little bit of each treat on the board. Have some extra set aside to refill the board as needed.

STORE leftovers. Whatever is left on the board can be placed in separate containers for you to snack on at another time.

Almond Bark Tips

One of the most classic Valentine’s Day treats I can think of has to be Dipped Strawberries. Use the same almond bark used to dip the berries to dip the pretzels and the strawberry wafer cookies.

The amount of almond bark needed will tie to the number of treats you end up dipping.

Melting the bark: Melt the almond bark in the microwave according to the package directions, but one of my favorite methods to melt dipping candy is to use a double boiler. If you don’t have one, easily make your own.

  • Use a saucepan, add 1-2 inches of water, and bring it to a boil.
  • Place a heat-proof glass or metal bowl on top. It should nestle snugly on top, but should not touch the water.
  • Add the almond candy cubes to the bowl and let them melt. The steam from the water will keep it melted without burning it.
  • If you run low on the melted candy simply add another cube.
