⭐ Why you’ll love this recipe

These vanilla crinkle cookies really stand out among chocolate crinkle cookies, frosted cookies, brownies, or other Christmas treats. They have a soft texture and you’re sure to get tons of compliments on this unique crinkle cookie.

🍪 What ingredients do I need for this recipe?

Vanilla crinkle cookies aren’t complicated to make. In fact, you probably already have all the ingredients you need in your kitchen. While some recipes for vanilla crinkle cookies call for vanilla beans, this recipe uses vanilla extract to make things easier. These cookies are pretty no fuss, the hardest part is waiting on them to chill!

  • All purpose flour: the base of most every cookie out there
  • Baking powder: for the crinkles
  • Baking soda: also for the crinkles
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Butter: unsalted butter is always best when baking cookies since the added salt tends to vary by brand.
  • Vanilla extract: lots of other vanilla crinkles will call for vanilla bean but there’s no need, vanilla extract brings all the flavor you need.
  • Eggs: You’ll need two large eggs.
  • Powdered sugar: the powdered sugar in this recipe is used for dipping and coating the cookie dough in before they bake.

💭 What are crinkle cookies?

Original crinkle cookies were made with molasses but over time chocolate crinkle cookies have really taken a shine. They have been a Christmas cookie staple for years and years now. These cookies are a fun twist on the classic since they are made with vanilla extract and not molasses or chocolate.

📖 How long are these cookies good for?

These cookies hold their texture and taste pretty well and can be stored in an airtight container for five days.

👩🏻‍🍳How to make vanilla crinkle cookies

In a large mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together first. Mix the wet ingredients together next. You’ll want to just slightly soften your butter enough to mix into the dough.

Next, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients then mix with a hand mixer until everything is well combined. Chill the dough for at least an hour, preferably two hours or better yet, overnight.

Once the dough has been chilled, preheat your oven to 325 degrees and a grease your cookie sheets.

Roll your dough into balls. You’ll want to use a medium cookie scoop to gauge or about 1 ½ tablespoons.

Dunk and coat into the powdered sugar. Place dough balls on two greased cookie sheets.

Bake for 11 to 12 minutes at 325 degrees, one tray at a time.

The most important notes about this recipe is that the cookie dough needs to be chilled. If you can let the dough chill for two hours or even overnight, that is best. Also, the cookies are baked at 325 degrees, not 350 degrees.
