No, its called punishment, obviously he gets punished, and unless it turns into a magic 3rd person flashback or the girl turns up and talks about how she killed our main character, he didnt die and this dude is just making the, frankly reasonable assumption he got killed.

While it sort of is a form of spoiler, it's not really one at all.
Though I'd suggest reading it before you jump to conclusions. I can strongly say that by giving up on reading it, you really are missing out on some Double Grade A Content.

Wow, people really take this dialogue at face value, apparently. They must be a lot of fun at action movies- every time the hero falls off the edge of a cliff or vanishes underwater, they immediately assume the main character genuinely died halfway through the movie and their mind is absolutely blown when he turns up alive.
