Organized by China Media Group (CMG), the "Global Governance, Youth Action" media event brought together an impressive array of guests from diverse backgrounds. Over 100 individuals representing government, youth organizations, media, and business sectors gathered to discuss the pivotal role of youth in global governance.
Under the inspiring theme, "Youth discussing global governance: Building a modern future together for China and Africa," the event highlighted the collaborative spirit and innovative drive of young Chinese and African individuals. CMG President Shen Haixiong praised their efforts, stating, "They are not just participants but shapers of the future."
Shen emphasized CMG's commitment to utilizing its global network to create platforms for youth exchanges and share their inspiring stories. This sentiment was echoed by Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng, who highlighted the international community's recognition of China's Global Governance Initiative.
With the upcoming G20 summit in Johannesburg, the first of its kind on African soil, Wu expressed hope for an active role by Chinese and African youth. He urged young people to strengthen their bonds, learn from each other, and become steadfast defenders of international fairness and justice.
Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former Chairperson of the African Union Commission, emphasized the driving force of youth in innovation and progress. With over 60% of Africa's population under 25, she stressed the importance of empowering young people through education, technology, and cross-border cooperation to ensure their active participation in governance and development.
Muliswa Magedi, representing South Africa's Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, further emphasized the role of youth as not just beneficiaries but active participants and drivers of innovation. Magedi acknowledged CMG's positive impact on cultural exchanges and youth amplification, hoping for further strengthening through media integration and technological innovation.
