Make some incredibly cool cloud dough at the art center today. This easy no-cook dough requires just 2 ingredients: cornstarch and hair conditioner. Easy enough! Mix equal parts together in a bowl. There is no cooking required and students can get their hands messy while helping to make it.
Cloud Dough Ingredients
- Corn Starch (aka “corn flour”)
- Hair Conditioner (hand lotion also works!)
This is not an exact science. The proportions depend heavily on the type of hair conditioner that you use.
Cheaper, watery hair conditioner will need a bit more corn starch.
More expensive, thicker hair conditioner will require a bit less corn starch.
Keep experimenting until it is not too sticky and not too crumbly. When the consistency is right, it will form a beautiful soft ball of dough.
The texture of this dough is so soft! It does not have any of the grainy feel like regular salt play dough. As an added bonus, playing with it will make everyone’s hands so soft and fragrant.
Pretend that it is a cloud! Make cloud shapes:
- spilled milk
- bunny
- airplane
- flower
Pretend that it is snow! Make:
- snow people
- snowballs
- snow forts
Children of all ages will love this soft, amazing snow dough. It is guaranteed to keep them busy for hours and hours! (In the wintertime, call it “Snow Dough” and in the spring it can be “Cloud Dough”!) Watch the video of how to make it, and ideas for play below:
