Tom Hanks has just revealed that he uses Diet co*ke to make his favourite co*cktail.
“I’m not big on drinking, so I usually have Diet co*ke, which I sip all night.” As a guest on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show on CBS for his film A Man Called Otto, Tom Hanks revealed the recipe for his favourite co*cktail: an interesting mix of Diet co*ke and… champagne, which he has dubbed the “Diet co*kagne.”
The Oscar-winning actor (Philadelphia in 1994 and Forrest Gump in 1995) says he came up with this brilliant idea one evening during the holidays, while sitting at the New York restaurant Café Carlyle. “The waiters brought champagne and beautiful flutes,” says Tom Hanks. “I was drinking Diet co*ke, so I said, ‘Pour me some champagne in there for God’s sake’.” The impromptu combo turned out to be a hit, at least for him and his family.
Tom Hanks’ “Diet co*kagne” recipe
As for the recipe (which is not yet among the iconic co*cktails invented in the US), it couldn’t be easier. To replicate at home, follow these few instructions:
- Fill your glass with ice
- Put in one shot of Diet co*ke for every two shots of champagne (you can definitely choose another brand of soda, but Tom Hanks maintaines that it must be diet)
