How To Store Macarons

The texture of a macaron is something so indulgent and special that if you somehow have some left over after the first sitting of eating them, you are going to want to know how to store them properly so that you are keeping that soft and special texture for the second sitting. How to store macarons is something that isn’t asked enough, if you don’t store them correctly, you will not be able to keep their original texture when you eat them the next time. Macarons can actually be stored in a number of different ways to ensure that they keep their unique texture and will be just as deliciously crisp and soft when you go back in for round two! Check out some of our tips and tricks below for how to store your macarons.

Keep Your Macarons Crisp And Soft

Keeping your macarons crisp and soft is so important and at Miss Macaroon we have some tips and tricks for you, but our packaging will also help you to do this. At Miss Macaroon we store your macaroons in air tight containers before they are put into a Gift box and bubble wrapped to keep them as crisp and soft as possible, allowing as little air to them as we can. Macarons last for 7 days at ambient temperature and for up to 7 weeks in the fridge, so they do have quite a good shelf life. However, when storing them at ambient temperature, it is probably best to keep them in an airtight plastic container, to keep as much air out as possible so that they don’t dry out. Again, if you are putting them in the fridge, we would suggest that you keep them in their plastic container again to keep the air out. Keeping your macarons crisp and soft is essential if you are using them later on and don’t plan to use them on the day they are delivered.

Storing After Delivery

Once you have had your delicious macarons delivered, what you really don’t want to happen is that their delicious taste and texture doesn’t disappear because of the way that you are storing them. No matter what flavour, filling or colour of macaroons, you can store them in the same way to ensure that they stay fresh. Once your macarons have been delivered, if you eat them straight away, then you can ignore all of this advice! However, if you only eat a few and want to save some for later, or you are using them at a later date, you may want to know how to store them. Well, you have two different options, the first one is that you can store them at ambient temperature, you should keep them in their plastic container or the container that they cane in so that they aren’t exposed to too much air. However most macarons only last at 7 days when you are keeping them at ambient temperature. If you are keeping them or planning to use them much further away than the original date of delivery, your other option is to keep them in the fridge. Macarons last for 7 weeks in the fridge when kept in their plastic casing. These are the two best ways to store your macarons once they have been delivered and this will ensure that they keep their delicious texture and still stay totally fresh.

Storing In The Fridge

Storing your macarons in the fridge is the best way to keep them fresh. You can store your macarons in the fridge for up to 7 weeks and they will still taste fresh and none of the ingredients will have gone off or taste different. Even though you can store your macarons at ambient temperature, storing your macarons in the fridge does keep them fresher. However be sure to take the macaroons out of the fridge at least 20 minutes before you are due to serve them, but keeping them in their plastic container, just to ensure that they reach room temperature and are the perfect texture and temperature for your guests or for yourself when you come to eat them or serve them.

Alternative Ways To Store Macaroons

The other way that macarons can be stored is by freezing them. However this should only really be done once they have been cooked and filled and are fresh out of the oven. Most macaroon shops/stores will store their freshly baked macarons in the freezer before they are sent out as orders. Re freezing macarons is not something that should be recommended as the texture could change and it might not taste as nice once it has been re frozen.

Miss Macaroons Top Tips

At Miss Macaroon we have some top tips for you when it comes to storing your macarons and keeping them as fresh as possible for a long as possible. Firstly, don’t leave them uncovered if you are not going to eat them that day, you don’t want to leave them exposed to the air and then for them to dry out. Secondly, whilst they definitely will be fine at ambient temperature, it is probably best to just pop them in the fridge because the moisture in the fridge may keep the texture better than being left out in the air. Again, the best way to keep them in the fridge is in their plastic containers. For those who are bakers/have their own store and perhaps want to sell them on, our best tip for them would be to keep them in the fridge or refrigerated displays for up to seven weeks.
